Tom Kingsbury is Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property for Bridgestone Americas, Inc. In that role, he is responsible for managing and advising senior management on all aspects of intellectual property, including assessing the commercial and strategic value of the company’s IP portfolio, preparing for and managing IP litigation, and supporting the company’s R&D and Product Development initiatives. He also works with his Japanese and European colleagues on global intellectual property strategies.
Prior to joining Bridgestone, Tom was worked as a Patent and Trademark Attorney for Maytag Corporation where he handled patent matters relating new product development, managed the company’s global trademark portfolio, drafted and negotiated OEM supply agreements with domestic and offshore suppliers, and directed trademark and advertising disputes. He also served as General Counsel for subsidiaries Maytag International, Inc. and Maytag Corporation’s Chinese Design Center.
He is a board member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association where he serves as the Board Liaison for the IPO’s International Trademark Law and Practice Committee. Tom holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton, a JD, cum laude, from the University of Akron, and a MBA from Walsh University. .
