Parminder particularly enjoys her work on Artificial Intelligence-based technologies, such as AI for image analysis, human-computer interactions, natural language processing and text-to-speech systems.

She has been an active member of IP Inclusive since it was launched in 2015. Parminder was a member of the team that developed IP Inclusive’s Careers in Ideas initiative, a campaign aimed at raising awareness of IP-related careers upstream in order to widen and diversify the recruitment pool. She also organises Women in IP events in Cambridge, including virtual events during the global pandemic, and has spoken about the need for greater awareness and understanding of the issues faced by under-represented groups in the IP professions. Parminder realised when she joined the patent profession in 2011 that there were very few BAME people in the profession let alone in senior positions. She understands the value of allies to support minority groups within the IP professions, and that the representation of minority groups to those outside of the professions is also important and powerful. In 2020, Parminder’s contribution to D&I matters was recognised by her selection as one of 20 trailblazer’s in WIPR’s annual Influential Women in IP list.

Parminder is a member of the Council which runs the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), and works behind the scenes on a number of CIPA’s projects.
